Teenagers Recaptured After Oberstown Escape

All five teenagers who escaped from the Oberstown detention centre in north Dublin have been recaptured, garda have reported.

The teenage boys, aged between 15 and 17, are understood to have been armed with bats and golf clubs when they escaped the centre shortly after 6pm on Saturday, 13 August.

A search operation was launched involving garda air and dog units and local officers.

All five boys had been apprehended and returned to Oberstown.

The Oberstown facility has been at the centre of an ongoing industrial dispute, with staff and the centre voting in favour of industrial action over safety concerns.
