Met Éireann Issues Status Yellow Warning

Met Éireann has issued a 'Status Yellow' warning for parts of Ireland today following overnight snowfall.

Drivers have also been advised to leave additional time for journeys and to travel carefully as snow and ice could make driving conditions difficult.

The weather warning is in place for Leinster, while counties Cavan, Donegal and Monaghan have been warned to expect some frost and icy patches, with sleet and snow showers expected throughout the day, particularly on high ground.

At lower levels, there is also a risk of snow, with possible accumulations of up to 3cm. It is expected to cause travel disruption across Leinster, as well as east Ulster. Drivers have been asked to exercise extreme care in the Dublin area during the rush hour commute today [04 March].

Elsewhere, snow is also reported across parts of Louth, Meath and areas of Munster, while snow is causing difficult driving conditions on the N2 between Slane and Collon.
