Tesco Ireland Issues Product Recall

Tesco Ireland has issued a product recall on all batches of three flavoured butters as listeria was detected at a production facility.

The affected products are all batches of Tesco roast garlic and herb butter (100g), roast garlic and herb (10g) and chilli butter discs (10g).

The retailer said the bacteria was detected in the production factory, therefore there is the potential for contamination in the flavoured butters.

Listera monocytogenes is a bacterium that can cause listeriosis with various symptoms including headaches, vomiting and diarrhoea.

It can be present in food using raw milk and foods produced from raw milk.

Pregnant women are especially vulnerable to the disease.

In a statement, Tesco said customers who have purchased the products should return them to the store or dispose of them.
