Witnesses Sought To Roadside Robbery By Man Posing As Garda Officer

Gardaí in Wexford have appealed for witnesses to a robbery in Murrintown early on Wednesday morning.

At approximately 6:25am at Corrammacorra Junction, a woman driving to work was stopped by what was described as a dark coloured older type Ford Mondeo car that gave the impression of being a garda car by the use of a blue flashing light. It was not a garda car.

She was then approached by a male impersonating a garda who proceeded to threaten the woman and take a sum of money. The woman was assaulted by the male during the incident and required hospital treatment at Wexford General Hospital.

The male left the scene in the dark coloured Mondeo car which was driven by a second male in the direction of Murrintown.

Gardai wish to appeal for witnesses that may have seen a car fitting this description in and around the area this morning or to anyone that may be able to assist the gardai with this investigation to contact Wexford Garda Station on 053-9165200, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
