Fianna Fáil Say Voters Facing Tough Choice In Coming Election
Voters are facing a choice between a government "intent on driving a two-tier recovery" or electing a new government founded on fairness, according to Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin.
Deputy Martin was speaking at the launch of an advertisement campaign for the party, highlighting one of the main differences between a Fine Gael-led government and a new administration led by Fianna Fáil.
"Fine Gael say they're offering the country stability in this election. Nothing could be further from reality. It's not stable to have 400-500 people on hospital trolleys on a daily basis; it's not stable to have 1500 children in emergency accommodation in this city each night; and it is certainly not stable to have the worst housing crisis the country has ever seen," Deputy Martin said.
"Fine Gael's pledge for US-style tax rates will wreak havoc on public services and fundamentally undermine our social services. Fianna Fáil recognises that our public services require investment and they require a government committed to the future of public services. Minister Varadkar has raised the prospect of outsourcing underperforming hospitals to the private sector – an extraordinary prospect which would fundamentally undermine the public health system. In health, the only thing Fine Gael offers is more chaos.
"They have stood over five spurious budgets in health by choice. The decisions being taken by Fine Gael and Labour in Government have worsened conditions for many families and we need a new government that will deliver real change for the country."

Fine Gael Approval Drops
The latest Red C opinion poll has indicated a 4% drop in support for Fine Gael. The poll saw approval of Taoiseach Enda Kenny's part slide from 29% to 25%. The party has had to deal with many contentious issues since its time in government, including water restrictions, health cuts and property tax. Support for Independents has increased 4%.
