FF Slams Minister For Social Protection Over 'Reluctance' To Take Up Post

Fianna Fáil has hit out at the Minister for Social Protection over her "reluctance" to take up the post.

Spokesperson on Social Protection Deputy Willie O'Dea accused Minister Joan Burton of "reacting very negatively" when she was offered the Social Protection Portfolio and said she was interested in becoming Minister for Foreign affairs.

Mr O'Dea said: "Her reluctance comes as no surprise to me and explains her complete lack of enthusiasm and empathy in the post. She has applied more cuts than any of her predecessors and is very obviously not at all happy in the post."
