Gardaí Investigate Fatal Road Accident

Gardaí are investigating a fatal road traffic accident in Blessington, Co Wicklow, at about 21:15 on Wednesday, 12 August.

A 33-year-old male motorcyclist was fatally injured when he and a second motorcyclist collided with a jeep. He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to Naas General Hospital where a post-mortem will take place.

The second male motorcyclist, 49, was also taken to Naas General Hospital with serious injuries.

The 61-year-old female driver of the jeep was taken to Tallaght Hospital with minor injuries.

The scene has been preserved and Garda Forensic Collision Investigators will carry out an investigation of the area. Diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone who was travelling on the N81 last night to contact them at Baltinglass Garda Station on 059 - 6482610, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666111 or any Garda Station.

Gardaí Injured During Drugs Raid
A man has been arrested after three gardaí were injured during a drug search in County Louth on Friday. The incident occurred at a property in Termonfeckin after 9am. The officers are believed to have been attacked with a knife and a pitbull dog was set on them. A man in his 30s is being held at Drogheda Garda Station.

Garda Injured In Cork
A garda has been injured while on duty in Cork on Monday night. The sergeant has been treated in hospital but has been discharged. He was bringing a patient, aged in his 20s, to the Mercy University Hospital just after 6pm. The garda is based at Gurranabraher Garda Station.

Arrest As €100k Cannabis Seized In Co Sligo
A man is under arrest over the discovery of suspected cannabis worth an estimated €100,000 in Sligo. Gardaí uncovered the drugs, along with a sum of cash, during a search of a property in Ballymote on Thursday evening, 16 January. A male in his 30s was arrested and remains in custody at Ballymote Garda Station.

Three Arrested Over Sligo Cannabis Find
Gardaí in Sligo uncovered a significant amount of Cannabis during a search of a house in County Sligo over the weekend. 250 cannabis plants and a quantity of cannabis herb were discovered in Clonloo at around midday on Saturday 09 March. The seized drugs are valued at over €200,000.
