Sligo Murder Victim Named

The body of a man found in Sligo on Monday has been identified as 59-year-old Martin Kivlehan with an address in Sligo town. 

The preliminary results from the post-mortem examination confirmed that Mr Kivlehan died of stab wounds.

Investigating gardaí are continuing to appeal for witnesses who may have been in the vicinity of Holborn Street between 10pm on Sunday night, 2nd August and 1pm on Bank Holiday Monday, 3rd August to contact the incident room at Sligo Garda Station 071 - 9157000, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.

A man and woman remain in garda custody and the investigation continues.

Two Arrested Over Murder Of Martin Kivlehan
Two men have been arrested in connection with the murder of Martin Kivlehan. 59-year-old Mr Kivlehan was found with stab wounds at his apartment in Sligo on 03 August. Both men were both arrested in Sligo town and are currently being detained at Sligo Garda Station under Section 30 Offences Against the State Act 1939.

Post Mortem For Sligo Assault Victim
A post mortem examination will be carried out today on the body of a 60-year-old man who died in hospital after being assaulted in Sligo town. Cyril Moran was assaulted at his home at River Road in the Cartron Point area of Sligo Town on Thursday morning.

Garda Injured In Cork
A garda has been injured while on duty in Cork on Monday night. The sergeant has been treated in hospital but has been discharged. He was bringing a patient, aged in his 20s, to the Mercy University Hospital just after 6pm. The garda is based at Gurranabraher Garda Station.

Appeal Issued For Witnesses To Co Sligo Road Accident
Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to a fatal road accident in Castlebaldwin, Co Sligo. Ballymote garda are investigating a collision involving three vehicles and a pedestrian at about 11:40 on Thursday. A man in his 60's was fatally injured when he was struck by a vehicle as he was working on the roadside.
