Man's Body Discovered In West Dublin

The body of a man has been discovered at Cherry Orchard in west Dublin.

The body was found in Ballyfermot at around 6.30am.

The scene has been preserved for forensic examination.

Local Sinn Féin Councillor Daithí Doolan said: "It is very sad news that another body has been found in Cherry Orchard. This is the second body found in this area in the last six months. It is a tragedy for this young man's family.

"I would encourage the public to fully cooperate with the Gardaí. Anyone with information, no matter how small or insignificant it appears, should contact the Gardaí.

"I would also appeal to the Garda Commissioner to allocate more Gardaí to Ballyfermot. I have written to the Superintendent and to the Chief Superintendent seeking a meeting at senior level to discuss extra resources for Ballyfermot.

"Too often, the public are told there are not enough Gardaí to respond to incidents in Cherry Orchard."
