PlanNet21 Communications Ltd has announced it is to create 30 new jobs.

The company is investing €20m Ireland. It is constructing a 10,000 square feet data centre in Dublin, which is expected to open in November.

Welcoming the announcement, Dara Murphy TD, Minister for European Affairs and Data Protectio, said: "The construction of world-class data centres, such as that being announced by PlanNet21 today, is an important growth area for the Irish economy. Ireland has already established itself as a global hub for data centres and it is clear that the importance of the services they provide, such as cloud computing, is set to increase in the coming years.

"As a growing indigenous company, I congratulate PlanNet21 on this significant investment and jobs announcement. For many companies in the ICT sector, data is similar to capital or raw materials in traditional industries, as it is fundamental to their business models. Having the data which is critical to these businesses hosted in Ireland is a huge vote of confidence in the data centre ecosystem that we have in place here."
