Viable Bomb Made Safe In Co Kildare

An investigation has been launched following the discovery of a bomb in Kildare.

Defence Forces called for an army bomb disposal team at about 01:30 on Thursday morning.

A number of homes in the Bothar Bui area of Athy were evacuated while the army examined the device.

It is understood that the device was made safe without the use of a controlled explosion.

The device was removed by the army for examination. It will then be passed to gardaí who will investigate the incident.

Explosive Device Discovered In Co Carlow
An investigation has been launched after army bomb disposal experts carried out a controlled explosion on a device in Co Carlow. The suspect explosive device was discovered in Kilmeaney on Thursday afternoon, 16 November. It has been described as a "complex viable improvised explosive device". The scene was declared safe at 6pm.

Suspicious Device Found In Rush Made Safe
A suspicious device has been made safe in Co Dublin. Emergency services were alerted earlier today, 02 December, that a suspect device had been located in Rush. An emergency cordon was established in the surrounding area and number of homes were evacuated. The Army Bomb Disposal Team arrived at the scene at 9.40am and site was declared safe at 11.

Viable Explosive Device Made Safe In Co Kildare
A viable explosive device has been made safe during a security operation in Co Kildare. Gardaí responded to a report of a suspect device in Leixlip on Monday night. Army bomb disposal experts examined the device and declared it 'viable'. The device was made safe just after midnight.

Residents Evacuated After Viable Device Found In Dublin
Residents had to be evacuated from their homes in Dublin after a suspected viable device was found. The suspect device was discovered in Blanchardstown at around 8pm on Saturday. Army Bomb Disposal experts made the device safe at the scene. Residents have returned to their homes and the scene was declared safe at 9pm.
