Clerys Workers 'Treated Appallingly' – SF

The treatment of workers at Clerys Department Store, which has entered liquidation, has been "strongly criticised" by Sinn Féin leader Gerry Adams.

Mr Adams said that the 130 workers, who have lost their jobs, have been "treated appallingly".

"These workers, some of whom have worked at Clerys all their adult lives, received no prior notice that their jobs were going," Mr Adams said. "The focus now must be on the rights and entitlements of Clerys workers. It is vital that the new owners meet the unions and workers' representatives to this end.

"I would appeal to members of the public to lend their support for the Clerys workers in their struggle for justice and fair treatment."
