Vehicles Damaged In Suspected Arson Attack

Vehicles contracted to Irish Water have been damaged in a suspected arson attack in Waterford.

It is understood an estimated €100,000 of damage was caused to a white Hino tipper truck with a hydraulic grab, a transport trailer, a mini-digger and a hydraulic rock breaker.

Another transport trailer and a mini digger is also believed to have been damaged.

Gardai have launched an investigation.

A lifeboat crew was yesterday rammed after they tried to stop a stolen ferry boat. The vessel was taken in the early hours of Tuesday morning from the pier at Arranmore Island - three miles off Co Donegal and then beached on the mainland.

Homes, roads and bridges have been damaged following torrential rain across the North-West last night, Tuesday 22 August. Roads were turned into rivers in Donegal, Derry and Tyrone, while more than 100 people had to be rescued from vehicles caught in flash flooding and violent storms.

Traffic Disruption In Dublin After Bridge Damaged
Gardaí have said they are expecting traffic disturbance in Dublin after major works begin today. A spokesman for Gardaí said that due to damage to the Citywest Bridge emergency roadworks will be carried out on the N7 Naas Dual Carriageway from today until Monday.
