Body Confirmed As Missing Co Meath Man

A body recovered from the banks of Lough Ramor, near Virginia, Co Cavan, has been confirmed as Joseph Whelan.

Mr Whelan (37) had gone missing from his home in Ashbourne, Co Meath on 03 April.

An extensive search operation was launched, which lead to the discovery of a body on Saturday.

It is understood that a post-mortem examination has ruled out foul play, but garda are still waiting for the results of toxicology reports.

Gardaí thanked the public for their help during the search for Mr Whelan.

Body Recovered From Lake In Co Cavan
Gardaí in Co Cavan are still trying to identify a body recovered from a lake on Saturday. The body was recovered from Lough Ramor, close to Virginia, which has been the site of ongoing searches for missing 37-year-old Joseph Whelan who has been missing for two weeks.

Body Found In Co Donegal
Gardai have launched an investigation after a body was discovered in Bundoran, Co Donegal, this morning (25 April). The body, believed to be a man aged in his 60's or 70's, was found near the shore in the West End of the town. It is believed the body remains at the scene.

Man Arrested Over July 2014 Co Meath Body Find
A man has been arrested in connection with the discovery of a man's body in Co Meath in July 2014. Gardai investigating the discovery of the body Paul Gallagher at Ballymacan, Collon, on the 30 July, 2014 have arrested a male in his thirties in the Navan area.

Man's Body Found In Co Meath
An investigation has been launched following the discovery of a man's body at a house in Co Meath. Gardaí aid that the body of a man in his 30s was found on Thursday at a house in Mooretown, Ratoath. It is understood the man had suffered head injuries. A post-mortem is due to be carried out today at Navan General Hospital.
