Man Arrested Over Three Car Pile-Up
Gardaí in Co Monaghan have appealed for witnesses to a three car collision involving a garda patrol car on the N2 near Moyles at about 23:30 on Saturday night.
It is understood that the garda officer was stopped on the hard shoulder assisting another broken down vehicle when a third car crashed into the back of his patrol car.
Garda said that three people needed hospital treatment following the incident.
A Garda spokesperson told the Irish Independent that a man has been arrested on suspicion on drink-driving in connection with the incident.
Anyone who witnessed the accident is asked to contact garda.
The Garda Ombudsman is also investigating the crash.

Three men are being treated in hospital after being hit by a car which was being pursued by gardaí. Gardaí have said a Hyundai Accent struck three men, aged in their 70s, and crashed into two parked cars outside the pitch and putt course in Parteen, Co Clare, at about 17:00 on Thursday.

A man has died after he was hit by a garda patrol car in County Louth. The incident occurred on the Dundalk to Carlingford Road at around 1.20am this morning. The Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission (GSOC) is currently investigating. The GSOC is also calling for any witnesses to contact them on 1890 600 800.

A woman is being treated in Tallaght Hospital after being hit by a Gardaí patrol car in Dublin. It is understood that the woman was "seriously injured" in the collision, which happened in Clondalkin at about 11:30 on Thursday.
