Weather Warning Issued For Ireland

Met Éireann has issued a Status Orange weather warning for the region.

The wind warning was issued on Sunday night (8 March) and is expected to remain in place until at least midnight on Monday.

The warning if for Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo.

The forecaster said: "Southerly winds of mean speed 60-65km/h. Gusts of 100-110km/h will veer southwest to west by afternoon and increase to mean speeds of 65-80 km/h with gusts of 110-130 km/h."

A Status Yellow wind warning is also in place for much of the rest of Ireland, where gusts of 90-110 km/hr are expected in Cork, Dublin, Kildare, Offaly, Roscommon and Wexford, to name a few.

Status Yellow Wind Warning Issued
Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow wind warning for nine counties across the country. The warning was issued on Sunday at 14:00, but remains in place until 21:00, when it will be reviewed. Winds of 45-55 km/h with gusts between 90 and 100 km/h.

Weather Warnings Issued For Wind And Snow
Met Eireann has issued a status orange wind warning for the south and southwest of Ireland, taking in counties Wexford, Galway, Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick and Waterford. This is in addition to a status orange warning for snow and ice in Co Donegal.
