Four Water Protestors Jailed For Contempt Of Court

Four water protestors have been jailed for contempt of court.

Two of the protesters were given 28-day sentences and another two were jailed for 56 days on Thursday.

Dublin Sinn Féin councillor for the Raheny/Clontarf ward, Ciarán O'Moore, is calling for their immediate release.

Councillor O'Moore said: "I stood in the criminal court, acting both as a local Sinn Féin representative and as a neighbour to seven people and their families on Tuesday and again all day today. These are ordinary people who stood up for their beliefs against this government’s ludicrous double water taxation policies."
