Galway Properties Damaged In Fire

Two homes have been left badly damaged following a fire in Galway.

The blaze is understood to have broken out in a housing estate in the Tirellan Heights area at around 5.45am on Sunday.

According to RTÉ, six people were in the properties at the time, while a number of other houses in the area were evacuated.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Mountjoy Prison Cell Fire
A fire broke out in a cell at Dublin's Mountjoy Prison on Thursday night, according to reports. It is understood that a prisoner had set fire to a cell. However, it is believed that prison staff and fire crews were able to contain the fire quickly. No-one was injured in the incident.

Investigation Follows Dublin Blazes
Gardaí have launched an investigation following a series of fires in Dublin yesterday evening. The suspicious blazes led Dublin Fire Brigade to attend three separate incidents in the Darndale area in the northside of the city within just over an hour. The first fire began at three unoccupied houses in the Buttercup Park estate at about 9.10pm.
