Luas Operator Accused Of 'Discrimination'

Operators of the Luas service have been accused of discrimination following the news they will not extend the same late-night service to the Red Line as being offered by the Green Line.

The Green Line service, which runs from St Stephen's Green to Sandyford and Bride's Glen, will run until 03:30am on certain nights over the Christmas period.

However, the Red Line, which runs to Tallaght, will not be extended.

It is understood that Dublin City Council's South Central Area Committee has written to Luas calling for an "equal service" on both lines, with one councillor saying that he believes not offering the same service on both lines is discrimination"; an accusation that Luas has rejected.
