'Substantial' Amount Of Alcohol Stolen In Dublin

A "substantial" amount of alcohol has been stolen from a warehouse in Ballyfermot, Dublin.

The theft happened at a warehouse in the Parkwest Industrial Estate on 14 November, between 3pm and 4pm.

Gardaí have said two employees were working at the site when two men entered the building. They were armed with iron bars and forced the employees to open the loading bay. At least three other men then appeared and tied the employees up, before using two 40 ft trucks to steal the alcohol.

The trucks left Parkwest between 4pm and 4.30pm, and travelled along Killeen Road up to the junction of Nangor Road. They then went left, towards the Long Mile Road, right on to the Naas Road and headed in the direction of the Red Cow roundabout. From here, it is not known if the trucks travelled onto the M50, or continued on the N7 towards Naas.

The first truck is described as a red cab, with a bank of spotlights along the top of the cab, and a white solid 40'tri-axle container. The second truck is a white cab, with a 40'tri-axle trailer which had a blue curtain.

Neither trailer had any distinctive markings.

Gardaí have said they believe the stolen alcohol could be offered for sale in the run up to Christmas. The alcohol that was taken from the premises includes 2,580 cases of Jameson Whiskey, each case being made up of 6 x bottles (700ml), and have one of the following Batch numbers – L428112153, L428312172, L428016141, with each bottle having a corresponding batch number on the rear of the label.

In addition, cases of Bombay Sapphire Gin, cases of 6 bottles (700ml) and cases of Jack Daniels Whiskey, cases of 6 (700ml) were also taken, but no batch numbers are available.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Ballyfermot Garda Station on 01 6667227 / 01 6667200 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
