'Significant' Diesel Laundering Operation Shut Down In Co Monaghan

Customs offices have shut down a "significant" diesel laundering operation in Co Monaghan.

It is understood that the plant, uncovered at Drumboat, Inniskeen, had the capacity to launder approximately 20 million litres per year, representing a potential loss of €10m to the Exchequer.

A man, aged in his 40s, has been arrested in connection with the discovery of the plant.

Two Held Over Fuel Laundering Plant
Two men have been arrested in Monaghan on suspicion of running a fuel laundering plant. Revenue officers and Gardaí raided the operation at commercial premises in Glaslough last night. The two men where arrested at the scene, one aged 33 the other aged 34, both from Northern Ireland.

Fuel Laundering Plant Uncovered In Portlaw
A fuel laundering plant has been uncovered by Gardaí and Revenue officers on a commercial property in Portlaw, Co Waterford. According to reports the plant had the capacity to launder some 10 million litres of fuel annually, which represents a potential loss to the Exchequer of around €5 million.

PSNI Investigating Fatal Collision Near Bready, Co Tyrone
An investigation has been launched following a fatal road traffic collision near Bready, Co Tyrone. At around 1.40pm on Sunday, 07 April, police responded to a report of a single vehicle collision on the Victoria Road. When police arrived it was discovered that a white Seat Leon had left the carriageway close to the junction with Grangefoyle Road.

Large-Scale Diesel Laundering Operation Uncovered
An illegal diesel laundering operation has been raided by customs officers and armed garda in Co Monaghan. The dawn raid at a premises at Drumacon, near Castleblayney, uncovered an operation with the capabilities of “washing” dye from some 15, litres of diesel a year. Estimates suggest it could have cost the revenue €8m a year.

Diesel Laundering Operation Uncovered In Cavan
A diesel laundering operation has been uncovered in Co Cavan last night, and is believed it could have cost the state up to €5m a year in lost revenue, customs officers said. The sophisticated and well-concealed operation was discovered behind a house at Whitegate, near the N3 at Virginia.
