Truckers Withdraw Threats Of Further Protests
Truckers from the Irish Road Haulage Association has withdrawn threats of further protests.
The Department of Transport has agreed for a meeting with Minister Noonan, Minister Donohoe and Minister Kelly to reach a satisfactory solution to the current HGV road tax issue.
A date for a meeting is to be confirmed.

Truckers To Meet Minister Over Fuel Crisis
Representatives of the Irish Road Haulage Association (IRHA) are to meet the Transport Minister Noel Dempsey to discuss rising fuel prices. Truckers are threatening to mount strike action at the end of this month unless measures are introduced to ease the pressures being caused by rising diesel prices.

There's a hot debate underway over funding for an important - long established rural community initiative in the North. The Ulster Unionist MLA, Danny Kinahan (pictured) has this morning repeated his condemnation of the proposed withdrawal of £75,000 of funding from the Young Farmers' Clubs.

Portadown Orangemen should "make a gesture" to the residents of the Garvaghy Road and rescind their claim to walk through the nationalist area, Sinn Fein's Martin McGuinness has said. The North's Deputy First Minister said he believed it was "not too much to ask" that Loyal Orders withdrew demands to proceed with the highly contentious march.

Report Says Clamping Fine Should Rise 60%
Dublin City Council have issued a new report saying that motorists in the city should face a 60% increase in clamping charges. The parking appeals officer says the €80 charge has not been increased since it was introduced in 1998.
