Teenager Dies In Cork House Fire

A teenager has died in a house fire in Co Cork on Sunday.

Emergency services were called to the Elmvale area at around 3pm.

It is thought the 17-year-old male fell asleep after leaving the chip pan on.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

No-one else was in the house at the time of the incident.

His body has been removed to Cork University Hospital where a post-mortem is due to be carried out.

Woman Charged Over Suspicious House Fire
A woman has been charged in relation to a suspicious house fire in Co Louth last year. Following an investigation into the blaze, which occurred at Cork Street in Drogheda on 16 August last year, gardaí confirmed a 27-year-old woman has been charged in connection with the incident. A woman, aged 73, was seriously injured in the fire in 2014.

Two men and a woman have died in three separate house fires in Limerick and Kerry. In the latest incident, a man in his 60s died following a house fire in Tralee in Co Kerry. The fire broke out in the terraced house in Connolly Park at about 9.30pm yesterday. Gardaí were called to the scene at around 9.

Woman Dies In Cork House Fire
A woman, aged 58, has died in a house fire on Cork. The blaze broke out at her home in Myross, Union Hall, just after 8am on Tuesday, 05 July. Emergency services attended however she was pronounced dead at the scene. A post-mortem examination is to be carried out and the scene has been preserved for a technical examination.

Pensioner Dies In Co Cork House Fire
An elderly man has died in a house fire at his home in Kilbehenny, Co Cork late on Tuesday night. A blaze broke out around 11pm on Tuesday. The 77-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to the Mid-Western Regional Hospital Limerick. No one else was in the house at the time.

Man Arrested Over The Murder Of Mikolaj Wilk
A man has been arrested in connection with the murder of Mikolaj Wilk in County Cork last June. The suspect, aged in his 30s, has been detained at Togher Garda Station. 35-year-old Mr Wilk, who was originally from Poland, died when he was attacked by a gang at his home in Ballingcollig.
