Thousands Of Homes Without Power After Severe Weather

Storms along the south coast of Ireland has left some 20,000 homes without electricity, ESB Networks has said.

The electricity provider said power has been restored to around half of the effected customers, with the remainder in Cork, Waterford and Wexford hoped to be restored by lunchtime today.

It is understood that severe weather conditions and a number of lightning strikes caused widespread power cuts.
