Orange Hall Destroyed By Fire

An Orange hall in Co Donegal has been destroyed in a fire.

The Convoy Orange hall was reported in the early hours of Friday morning.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is currently underway, but gardaí have said early indications suggest forced entry was made into the building.

The fire is the latest in a series of attacks on Orange halls in the border counties.

The incident is the latest in a spate of attacks on Orange property in the border counties.

In a statement, Convoy Worshipful Master Alan Laird said members had been left "absolutely devastated" by the fire.

He added: "The Orange fraternity in Convoy is just aghast – we are in a complete state of shock.

"We enjoy fantastic community relations with our Roman Catholic neighbours and have no idea why our hall would be targeted in such a manner."

This year, there have been 16 reported attacks on Orange property across the island of Ireland.
