Department Of Education Announce Funding For School Works

Funding has been secured for works on two schools, the Department of Education has announced.

Funding has been approved for electrical work at St Ronan's National School in Roscommon, while roofing work will also be carried out at the Convent of Mercy Secondary School in Taughmaconnell.

Welcoming the news, Fine Gael candidate in the Roscommon/South Leitrim bye-election, Councillor Maura Hopkins, said: "I'm very pleased that funding has been approved … The allocations for both schools have been sanctioned by the School Building Unit at the Department of Education.

"These monies will now enable the necessary works to proceed once the respective tendering processes have been completed."

Irish Defence Minister, Tony Killeen has confirmed that funding has been approved for the replacement of the main oil burner and boiler at Mary Immaculate Secondary School in Lisdoonvarna.
