Computer Problems Leaves Thousands Without School Bus Ticket

Thousands of school pupils have been issued with temporary tickets after problems with a new computer system left them without the official annual bus tickets worth €650.

Issues with a new, centralised computer system have been blamed for the delay in thousands of pupils failing to receive their annual bus tickets before starting back to school.

It is estimated that over 100,000 of the annual school transport tickets are sold each year, with approximately 82,000 having been issue to date for the coming school term.

For families still waiting to receive the ticket, Bus Éireann are emailing out temporary replacements, but also say that proof of purchase will be accepted for travel.

A helpline number, which will be open from 9am to 8pm all this week, has been set up by Bus Éireann - 1800 945 945.
