Inchiquin Water Supply 'Unsafe For Use'

Algae present in the water at Inchiquin Lake has rendered it unsafe to use, Clare County Council has said.

It is understood that up to 1,800 customers in the Corofin and Ruan Public Water Supply are affected by the algal bloom – which is the result of a long period of dry weather, warm temperatures and reduced water levels in the lake.

The water supply is unsafe for use until further notice, Clare Co Council, Irish Water and the Health Service Executive have said.
