Irish Woman Charged With Concealing Birth Allowed To Return Home

An Irish backpacker in Australia who is accused of concealing the birth of her baby is to be allowed to return to Ireland ahead of her trial.

It is understood that the 25-year-old is being charged with an offence of failing to report the birth of a child, including when a baby dies of natural causes.

According to reports the woman's bail conditions have been changed to allow her to return to Ireland until her case goes to trial.

It is understood that the woman's mother has been in Australia to support her daughter, but her visa has now expired.

Medical advise heard by a court said that there are concerns for the young woman's welfare is she is without the support of her family.

Local police had objected to the motion but perth Magistrate's Court agreed to allow the young to return home.

She will be expected to return to Australia to stand trial in District Court.

May Date For 'Slab' Trial
