Consultation Seeks Public's Input In Future Of Irish Water
The public is being urged to make a submission on the future of water services in Ireland.
Irish Water has launched a non-statutory consultation on its Water Services Strategic Plan (WSSP) Issues Paper and its Draft Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) Scoping Report.
The consultation is seeking views on the following:
• How Irish Water can meet customer expectations
• How Irish Water should ensure a safe and reliable water supply
• How Irish Water should provide for the effective management of wastewater
• Protection of the environment
• How Irish Water can support social and economic growth
• Investing in our future
The consultation will run until 01 September.

The government has been accused of putting lives at risk with its "failure" to put in place a 21st century water treatment system. Sinn Féin Senator Trevor Ó Clochartaigh made the comment following the publication of the Environmental Protection Agency's Urban Waste Water Report for 2014.

Irish Water 'Not FIt For Purpose'
Irish Water is "not fit for the purpose of serving the interests of ordinary citizens", Sinn Féin Mary Lou McDonald has said. The Deputy Leader and party spokesperson on Public Expenditure and Reform has called again for the scrapping of water charges, saying that the government's management of the company has seen a "litany of debacles".

Irish Water Seeks Tenders For Dublin Water Supply Project
The €500m Dublin Water Supply project, which will supply water to Dublin from the River Shannon, has been relaunched. Irish Water has taken over the scheme, originally proposed in 2010, from Dublin City Council, as part of its work since taking responsibility for water services last month.
