Sinn Féin Seek Support For Property Tax Reduction
Sinn Féin will today propose a motion to reduce the Local Property Tax by 15%, calling the it "an unfair, unjust tax that puts the burden on middle and low-income households".
The party has called on all Dublin City Councillors to support the motion, which will be brought in front of the council on Monday evening.
Councillor Daithí Doolan said: "We are committed to reversing this tax if elected to government. But in the meantime we aim to reduce the burden of this tax for households here in Dublin.
“The motion on Monday night will commit Dublin City Council to supporting the maximum cut of 15% for 2015.
"Sinn Féin will also defend jobs and local services. We will be working with councillors on the other three Dublin local authorities to defend funding for local government. We will be calling on Dublin TDs to guard against any further cuts to local authorities’ grants.
"Sinn Féin will be looking for cross party support for our motion this Monday and in our campaign against government cuts."

The Finance Minister Brian Lenihan has said there will be no further income tax increases this year. The vow comes only a month after the Government doubled the income levies in the emergency budget. Despite the assurances, Mr Lenihan has confirmed that a property tax and a carbon tax were being considered.

Call For Overhaul Of 'Outdated And Unfair' Council Funding Model
The Social Democrats have branded Ireland's local authority funding system as outdated and deeply unfair to people living in council areas with rapidly growing populations. The party is calling for a complete overhaul of how Local Property Tax is distributed to ensure that all councils can properly meet the needs of their residents.

Urgent Action Needed On Outstanding Tax Payments Of €4.3bn
Labour has called for urgent action on outstanding tax payments of €4.3 billion owed to Revenue as of 31 January, 2019. According to Labour Finance spokesperson Joan Burton, a total of €969m is immediately available for collection and would make a significant difference to public services.
