Charity Calls For Govt To Take Action On Dublin Homelessness

154 people slept rough on the streets of Dublin on Thursday night, according to the Inner City Helping Homeless charity.

ICHH, a volunteer group established to help the homeless in Dublin, also recorded 118 people sleeping rough the previous night.

The group has called for the Government to take urgent action to tackle the problem in the city.

ICHH Director Anthony Flynn said: "We no longer need promises we need direct action to solve the problem. We need investment in long term housing units for rough sleepers rather than short term beds that are clearly over stretched.

"The Minister needs to address this immediately or Dublin will soon become Europe's homeless capital."
