Irish Rail Reintroduce Children's Tickets At Machines

Irish Rail have announced the reintroduction of children's tickets to its vending machines, some two years after they were removed to stop adults using them to avoid full rail fares.

The option to buy a child ticket was removed from all of its 164 stations, with the lower fare only being available from ticket counters.

The company has now announced that it will again be possible to buy children's tickets from its machine, providing it is bought alongside an adult ticket.

News of the move has been welcomed by Labour TD Sean Kenny, who had previously raised concerns with the company from people afraid of being fined for not being able to buy valid tickets for their children while using the service.
