Union Requests Urgent Meeting With Bristol-Myers Squibb Management

SIPTU has requested an urgent meeting with the management of Bristol-Myers Squibb following an announcement that the pharmaceutical company is seeking 30 redundancies at its manufacturing plant in Swords, Co Dublin.

SIPTU Organiser, Michelle Quinn, said: "SIPTU members at Swords Laboratories, which is part of the Bristol-Myers Squibb company, were informed at 4.00pm today that 30 jobs will be lost within the manufacturing plant by December 2015.

"Among those being made redundant are 20 SIPTU members. We also regret the announcement by the company of the closure of the Cruiserath facility in Dublin 15 with the loss of 130 jobs.

"We are led to believe that these redundancies will be voluntary and the offer will be made across the site. This announcement came as a shock to the workers and their families. SIPTU is seeking an urgent meeting with management to explore any possible ways to minimise these job losses."
