Almost 200 Jobs To Be Lost In Call Centre Closure

Almost 200 hundred jobs are to be lost in Cork with the closure of a specialist insurance services call centre.

Assurant Services informed staff on Monday that the centre would close by September with the lose of 170 jobs.

It is understood that the company, owned by Fortune 500 firm Assurant Solutions, is to consolidate its call centre operations to Crewe in Cheshire, England.

The company, which established its Cork call centre in 1999, announced in December that it was reviewing its Irish operations.

In a statement the company said it would work with the IDA and other local employers in an effort to find employment opportunities for its staff.
