SuperValu To Create Over 200 Jobs With New Stores

Over 200 jobs are to be created this year by retailer SuperValu, who are to build three new stores.

An investment of €7 million is to be spent on opening three new locations, with a further €12m to be spent on the expansion and refurbishment of the chains current 45 stores.

Once completed, a total of 210 new jobs will be created by the retail chain, which will operate will a total of 223, and employing 14,500 people.

SuperValu also became the first retail store in Ireland to introduce a "drive through" collection service at the Carrigaline store in Co. Cork. The service allows people to order online then pick up their shopping without having to enter the store.

Almost two thousand jobs are to be created in an expansion by the world's largest sandwich chain Subway. The company, headquartered in Connecticut, have said that the expansion will see them target non-traditional locations, understood to include hospitals, universities and petrol stations.

SuperValu Creates 400 Jobs
A leading Irish supermarket group is to create up to 400 new jobs in Co Leitrim and in Co Laois. SuperValu - that already has a workforce of 15,000 - said it is part of an investment programme worth over €25m and will see the supermarket chain opening two new stores and the extension and refurbishment of an additional 34 premises.

Tesco Expansion Plans To Create 200 Jobs
Some 200 new jobs are to be created over the next year as Tesco expand its operations in Ireland. 80 jobs are to be created before the end of this year as part of the supermarkets previously announced €70m capital investment programme. Another 48 jobs are expected as Tesco open new express stores in Cork and Dublin.

SDLP Launches Petition For Restoration Of Integrated Schools Funding
The SDLP has launched a petition calling for the restoration of funding for new buildings at ten integrated schools across NI. The petition follows the recent announcement of the withdrawal of this funding as part of the financial package agreed between Executive parties and the UK Government.
