Storm Conditions Continue To Impact The Eircom Network

Currently 10,000 people have reported high faults on the eircom network due to the high winds, floods and storms.

The firm says 700 crews are working nationwide to restore the service.

A spokesperson from eircom said: "We anticipate there could be up to an additional 10,000 faults on our network in the coming days. Of the current faults on our network over 70% of reported faults are less than 5 days old. Both broadband and telephone services are impacted.

"The damage caused by the latest round of storms is mostly wind related and has resulted in significant damage to our overhead network particularly with falling trees taking down overhead telephone lines. Our underground network is holding up well and we are not currently experiencing significant flood damage."

The storm damage has affected most of the country with particularly high fault volumes in Cork, Kerry, Galway, Mayo, Tipperary, Wexford, Limerick.
