Met Eireann Warns Of More Flooding

Met Eireann has issued a flood alert warning for later this evening.

An orange status weather alert has been issued and heavy rain and gale force winds are expected to move in to Munster and South Leinster this afternoon.

Further flooding is like to occur, especial in exposed coastal counties of the South and Southeast at high tides.

Met Éireann has warned further bad weather is expected this week in Co Cork. An orange weather warning was issued during the weekend as rain and snowfall affected the county. In addition, flooding occurred in parts of Cork city.

Dublin Fire Service has been helping residents in Clondalkin after a water main burst and flooded the area. It is understood that a number of residents have been evacuated while others have been trapped in the upstairs of the homes due to the water.

Over 660 Motorists Found Speeding Over Easter Bank Holidays
More than 660 motorists were caught breaking the speed limit across the Causeway Coast and Glens during the Easter bank holiday weekend – an increase of 22% from 2022. Chief Inspector Sinead McIldowney said: "The Safety Camera Vans were deployed at various locations across the North Coast and the increase in these detections is a worrying trend.

Serious Flooding Warnings Issued
Serious tidal flooding warnings have been issued in Dublin amid predictions of heavy rain and strong winds. City officials have closed floodgates along the River Dodder in the Sandymount and Ringsend areas over fears of high seas. Met Eireann have also warned that tides are set to rise substantially along parts of Dublin Bay.
