Coillte To Fell 16,000 Trees To Stop Disease
Sixteen thousand trees are to be cut down in Gougane Barra Forest Park in Co Cork to prevent the spread of a fungal-like disease.
Forestry company Coillte confirmed the disease, phytophthora ramorum, earlier this month.
Control measures have now been put in place in accordance with the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine protocols.
It is expected that the felling will take six months with the park remaining closed throughout.

Woman Granted Week To Repay €43,000 Dole Fraud
A woman who pleaded guilty to fraudulently claiming dole payments of more than €43,000 has been granted a week to repay all the money involved. 33-year-old Sibyl Montague appeared before Cork District Court as Judge Leo Malone was told that, if he agreed to adjourn the matter for seven days, the entire sum involved would be repaid.

€57m To Be Invested In All-Island Congenital Heart Disease Network
A total of €57 million is to be invested in the all-island Congenital Heart Disease Network, it has been announced. Ministers Simon Harris TD and Michelle O'Neill MLA committed to the multi-million funding during the opening of the new Hybrid Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory at Our Lady's Children's Hospital Crumlin (OLCHC) in Dublin on Monday.

Ministers Reveal Care Service For Diabetes Patients
A new Diabetes Cycle of Care service has been launched for holders of medical cards and GP Visit Cards who have Type 2 Diabetes. The service was revealed today 30 September by Minister for Health Leo Varadkar and Minister for Primary Care, Social Care & Mental Health Kathleen Lynch.
