State Agrees To Pay Half Of Right-To-Die Case Costs

The majority of the bill for an unsuccessful legal challenge over the right to die will be paid for by the State.

Marie Fleming, who died last month, lost her challenge over the right to die when the Supreme Court dismissed her action.

Following her death the court today agreed to delay drawing up a costs order until her estate is constituted.

The court also agreed to uphold a High Court order awarding costs to Ms Fleming and against the State.

Representing the State Shane Murphy SC, agreed to the court order.

The Supreme Court also agreed to an order awarding half of the costs for the Supreme Court case to Ms Fleming.

Woman Settles High Court Action Against Surgeon
A Dublin woman has settled her High Court action against a plastic surgeon over a botched breast operation. 28-year-old Kate Murray, sued Italian consultant Marco Loiacano who was struck off by the Medical Council's Fitness to Practise Committee for misconduct in 2011 over the operation he carried out on her in March 2008.

High Court Dispute Set To Proceed Following Ruling
