Cost Of DRD Car Parks To Be Reduced Over Christmas Holidays

News that the cost of car parks operated by the Department of Regional Development are to be reduced over the Christmas period has been welcomed.

Sinn Féin Regional Development spokesperson Sean Lynch said: "I welcome the announcement by the DRD that it will have a reduced rate of £1 for five hours in their car parks in 25 town and cities across the North.

"I also welcome the news of free park and ride services being introduced to encourage shoppers into towns.

"We raised this issue through the committee several months ago and the Minister has listened and implemented a sensible policy.

"It is important that we maintain vibrant town centres in order to sustain many independent retailers and small businesses that have struggled due to the global recession.

"These small businesses employ many people and initiatives such as this will help secure those jobs for the future."
