Dublin City Council Closes Motor Tax Offices
Dublin City Council has announced that the Motor Tax Offices in Smithfield, Ballymun and Clondalkin will close to the public all next week.
The closure will take place from Monday 11 November to Friday 15 November 2013 inclusive, to accommodate a "significant backlog of non use declarations, motor tax applications and driving licence applications" that has followed legislative changes introduced from 30 September, 2013.
As of Tuesday 29 October, applications for learner permits, driving licences and driver licence renewals can no longer be made through the Motor Tax Offices.
More information on the new application procedure is available via National Driver Licence Service on 0761 087880 or by visiting www.ndls.ie
In the meantime customers can continue to pay online at www.motortax.ie or by post to Motor Taxation Office, Block B, Blackhall Walk, Queen Street, Dublin 7, Clondalkin Motor Tax Office, Ninth Lock Road, Clondalkin, Dublin 22 or Ballymun Motor Tax Office, Civic Centre, Ballymun, Dublin 11.

Govt Urged To Extend 'Off The Road' Deadline
Sinn Féin have called on the government to extend the deadline for people to declare their car as "off the road" so has not to be caught out by new legislation. It is understood that large queues and growing backlogs have been reported at many Motor Tax offices, which they say they will not be able to clear by the October 01 deadline.

The Finance Minister Brian Lenihan has said there will be no further income tax increases this year. The vow comes only a month after the Government doubled the income levies in the emergency budget. Despite the assurances, Mr Lenihan has confirmed that a property tax and a carbon tax were being considered.

Clondalkin Motor Tax Office To Close
The motor tax office in Clondalkin, South Dublin, is to close. Dublin City council said motor tax offices have experienced "a significant reduction in business" since the driver license processing was transferred to the national driver licence service (NDLS) at the end of October this year.
