Gardaí Seize Fireworks In Shannon

Firework worth an estimated €2,000 have been seized by gardaí in Shannon.

Officers uncovered a large quantity of fireworks during a planned search as part of Operation Tombola, which was set up to target the sale and supply of fireworks.

Officers from the Shannon Detective Unit carried out an intelligence led search of a house in the Rossbracken Housing Estate on Wednesday Afternoon.

No arrests were made and the investigation is ongoing, according to garda.

Men Arrested Over Contraband Cigarettes
Revenue Customs Service have arrested two polish men following the seizure of contraband tobacco. In a planned search of a house in Tralee, Co Kerry, officers recoverd 46kgs of 'Pall Mall' and 'Turner' roll-your-own tobacco. The tobacco is estimated to be worth €18,300, representing a potential loss to the exchequer of €14,800.

Sextuplet Passes Away
One of Ireland's first sextuplets has died. It was revealed today that one of Nuala Conway's four girls - born along with two boys on 22 May - passed away at a local hospital in the North. Their publicist Max Clifford confirmed the news and said: "Our hearts go out to the mum and dad and we hope that the others are going to be fine," he said.

Cannabis Seized In Co Kildare
Gardaí in Co Kildare have seized cannabis worth an estimated €800,000. The find was made during a planned search of a house in Crossmorris on Monday. Officers seized 40kg of cannabis herb in the search. A 43-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the find.

Officers Seize €20,000 At Knock Airport
Revenue officers seized €20,000 in cash from a couple who landed in Knock airport having returned from Lanzarote. The can was concealed in items of clothing and carry-on luggage. The cash was seized under the Proceeds of Crime Act and investigations are continuing.
