Met Éireann Warn Of Possible Flooding

A yellow weather warning has been issued with up to 50mm of rain forecast in the next 24 hours, along with gale force winds.

Met Éireann have warned that flooding is possible in some areas, particularly southern and eastern parts of Munster, much of Leinster and eastern parts of Ulster.

Meteorologists have forecast 25mm to 40mm of rainfall today with up to 50mm in mountainous areas.

It has forecast "heavy rainfall" in many areas during the afternoon with "torrential downpours" and "spot flooding".

Met Éireann has warned further bad weather is expected this week in Co Cork. An orange weather warning was issued during the weekend as rain and snowfall affected the county. In addition, flooding occurred in parts of Cork city.

Met Eireann Issue Severe Weather Warning
As heavy rain and strong winds continue to batter Ireland a severe weather warning has been issued for at least the next 24 hours. Met Éireann has released the warning and are advising motorists to exercise extreme care on the roads where spot flooding and debris are making driving conditions dangerous.

Fire Service Responds To Clondalkin Flooding
Dublin Fire Service has been helping residents in Clondalkin after a water main burst and flooded the area. It is understood that a number of residents have been evacuated while others have been trapped in the upstairs of the homes due to the water.

More Flooding Possible
Further flooding is possible this weekend according to the latest forecast from Met Eireann. The Irish weather service said today that changeable conditions are expected over the weekend as efforts to clean up after the flooding that affected many parts of the country over the last week continue.
