Cargo Ship Runs Aground Off Dublin Coast

A cargo ship, en route from Ringaskiddy to Dublin, has run around 11km off the coast of Dublin this morning.

The MV Cielo di San Francisco hit a sandbank between the Kish Bank and Bray at about 9.30am.

It is understood that there are some 21 people on board the vessel but there have been no reports of any injuries.

A rescue of the boat will be attempted, first with a tugboat, and if that is not successful an attempt will be made to float the ship at high tide this evening at 11.55pm.

Man Killed In Co Wicklow Paragliding Accident
A man has died following a paragliding accident in County Wicklow. His body was discovered on Sunday 12 April after a search was launched when he failed to return to his north Dublin home. Wicklow Mountain Rescue conducted the search along with the Irish Coast Guard Rescue.

No Pollution Risk From Stricken Tall Ship
There is no risk of pollution from the abandoned tall ship, the Astrid, which crashed into rocks off the coast of Kinsale on Wednesday afternoon, the Irish Coast Guard has said. 30 members of the ships crew were rescued after string winds blow blew the Dutch-registered training vessel onto rocks and it began to take on water.
