Minister For Transport Urges Talks For Dublin Bus And Unions

Transport unions and Dublin Bus have been urged to enter talks in an effort to avoid upcoming industrial action in a dispute over cost saving measures.

Alan Kelly, Minister for Transport was quoted by RTÉ as saying: "A strike can be avoided. If both sides come to the negotiating table in a calm manner, I think many of the issues can be addressed.

"A lot can happen between now and Sunday if both sides engage constructively. The time should be used wisely."

SIPTU and the National Bus and Rail Union (NBRU) issued a strike notice to Dublin Bus earlier this week.

Dublin Bus responded by saying that should the action proceed they would be unable to provide a service.
