Tip Leads To Uncovering Of Child Abuse Cache Online

Irish web service Hotline.ie has uncovered over 900 links to so-called 'cyberlockers' containing child abuse images and videos.

It is understood that the web service received a tip-off from an "Irish internet user" about the file-sharing folders in June.

Some 928 links to images and videos of abuse of children believed to be of different nationalities were uncovered and traced back to Taiwanese web servers.

In total, 928 links were discovered, some originating in internet chat rooms, according to Paul Durrant, director of Hotline.ie.

The material has since been removed from the files, following a joint operation by the Irish organisation and its Taiwanese counterpart.

An investigation is now underway in Taiwan trying to trace the origin of the folders.
