Brothers Drown When Fishing Punt Overturns

Three brothers have drowned when their fishing boat capsized off the coast of Co Waterford.

Paul Bolgar (49) died alongside his brothers Kenny (47) and Shane (44) left Dunmore East in their 19ft fishing punt, the 'Dean Leanna, to tend to lobster pots near Brownstown Head off Tramore.

An alert was raised when the brothers did not return to port at the expected time and a search and rescue operation was launched.

The upturned boat was found outside Tramore Bay and the bodies of the three men recovered from the water.

It is understood that wind conditions were strong and there was a heavy swell at the time the brothers were out.

Post-mortem examinations of the bodies are planned.
