Catholic Bishops Issue Strong Criticism Of Abortion Legislation

People are being misled by the government on the proposed abortion legislation, the Catholic Bishops of Ireland have claimed.

In a statement released on the groups website, the bishops claim the public is being misled: “The Government is under no obligation to legislate for the X case.

“We challenge repeated statements that this legislation is about saving lives and involves no change to the law or practice on abortion.

The bishops go on to claim that, “for the first time legislation will be enacted permitting the deliberate and intentional killing of an unborn child. This represents a radical change. Every citizen, not just people of faith, should be deeply concerned.”

The bishops full statement can be read on their website.
