Ex-Priest Jailed For Abuse Given More Jail Time

A former priest, jailed for sexually abusing nine boys in the 1970s and 80s, has had his 16-year sentence increased by 15 months after admitting abusing two more boys.

Known as "the singing priest" because of his role in the All Priests Show, 59-year-old Tony Walsh admitted abusing a 10-year-old and an 11-year-old boy in 1979, while curate in Ballyfermot.

It is understood the Walsh is currently appealing his 16-year-sentence.

Priest And Former Headmaster Jailed For Sexual Abuse
A 66-year-old Dominican priest and former headmaster has been jailed for three years for the sexual assault of a boy. Fr Vincent Mercer pleaded guilty at Cork Circuit Criminal Court to 15 sample counts of sexually assaulting the boy on various dates between 1986 and 1994. The boy was aged 11 when the abuse started.

Ex-Priest Admits Sexually Assaulting 11 Boys
Trim Circuit Court heard yesterday a former priest admit to indecently assaulting a number of boys at different locations in the diocese of Meath, including a parochial house. 77-year-old Raymond Brady admitted offences relating to 11 individuals.

Former Council Offical Jailed For Abusing Children For 27 Years
A former Clare County Council official, 61-year-old Seán Leamy, has been jailed for six years for sexually abusing five boys over 27 years. At Ennis Circuit Court yesterday, Judge Carroll Moran said that the victims had “had their childhood stolen” by Leamy. The youngest victim was a seven-year-old and the oldest was 14.
